The upcoming GGG vs Canelo trilogy fight is one of the biggest fights in the boxing world this year. The fight is scheduled for September 17th, 2022 with the location TBD. I don’t expect the trilogy fight to quite the same hype as the rematch did back in 2018, with Canelo coming off a loss and GGG being relatively inactive since the rematch, but this is still a huge grudge match with unfinished business between the pair.
Canelo is a significant favourite in this trilogy fight, after the first two fights were basically pick’ems according to the oddsmakers. At 31 years old, Canelo is still in his prime, and he’s been very active since the last GGG fight winning 7 fights and collecting a variety of belts before losing to Dmitry Bivol earlier this year, while trying his luck at light heavyweight. Golovkin is now 40 years old, and although he’s 4-0 since the last Canelo fight, he has not fought the same level of competition, and he is just 1-0 since 2020, winning in impressive fashion over Ryota Murata in April of this year.
Even though this trilogy fight may be three years too late, I still think the fight will generate significant buzz and betting opportunities. If you are a Canadian who wants to place a bet on either Canelo or GGG, follow the simple three step guide I’ve laid out to get your wager in quickly at our top rated sportsbook.
