MLS 2022 – Sunday 10th April Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The MLS weekend concludes on Sunday evening when the final two matches of the latest round of games are played out on a night where four sides who have made an acceptable if uninspiring start to the season are on show.

The second of the two matches will be live on the TV for us in the UK to enjoy but we will be restricted to the bookmaker streams for the first game. Both matches are fairly early though so we don’t need to be night owls to watch them.

Charlotte FC vs Atlanta United (18.30)

The opening match of the night sees the new boys Charlotte FC taking on Atlanta United for the second time this season after the Five Stripes won 2-1 in the reverse meeting between the two last month.

That game was in Atlanta so the new boys will be hoping to use home advantage to their favour and get their revenge, which if they do will send them flying into the playoff zone in the Eastern Conference. Atlanta go to Charlotte knowing if they come away from Panther land with a point they will end the weekend second in the Eastern Conference which would cement a decent start to the season. It would also give them successive away wins if they can win this match and that is quite rare in MLS. These are two technical sides and my fear is that they cancel each other out which makes betting on this one quite difficult so I’ll leave it alone.

Austin FC vs Minnesota United (00.30 – Free Sports)

The second match of the night comes from the Western Conference where two teams who have won two and drawn two of their opening five matches when Austin FC take on Minnesota United in a sneaky good looking match.

Austin FC have only won two matches this season but they scored five goals in each of them. They were the first two games of the campaign but if you want to pick holes in them they were only against poor sides in FC Cincinnati and Inter Miami. They haven’t won in three since then. Minnesota United started the term unbeaten in four matches but lost for the first time at home to the Seattle Sounders last week. I don’t think there is an issue with that result. They have been on their travels twice this season picking up a draw at Philadelphia Union and a win at New York Red Bulls. They are better than most away from home and with questions still over the validity of how good Austin FC are I think the Loons can avoid defeat here.
