Premier League 2021-22 – Wednesday 16th March Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Premier League continues to regain ground after the postponed matches earlier in the season on Wednesday night and it feels like it could be a big evening in the campaign with three of the four sides pushing hard for league positions.

One of the two matches is live on the TV in the UK while the other one isn’t available in this part of the world. Hopefully there will be regular updates during the TV coverage on that contest so we can keep up to date with it. We’ll do the preview in kick off order.

Brighton and Hove Albion vs Tottenham Hotspur (19.30)

The opening match of the evening comes from the Amex Stadium where Tony Bloom will be hoping his Brighton and Hove Albion football team follows in the footsteps of Energumene at Cheltenham when they host Tottenham Hotspur.

Brighton have come off the rails a little bit in terms of their form in recent times having lost their last five matches. That is undoing some of the good work they have done this season but at the same time it probably highlights the lack of resources at the disposal of Graham Potter. That would open the door for Tottenham but they aren’t exactly the model of consistency themselves. They have beaten Brighton in the FA Cup in London this season but they just can’t be relied upon, as we saw on Saturday evening when a pretty average Manchester United were too good for them. I’m pretty happy to leave this one alone.

Arsenal vs Liverpool (20.15 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

The bigger of the two matches comes from the Emirates Stadium where Arsenal will look to move four points clear in the race for Champions League football next season when they go up against a title chasing Liverpool who will be just one point behind Manchester City with a win.

Liverpool saw the title race get blown wide open on Monday night and have the chance to really put the wind up City at the summit of the table going into the international break. Arsenal are a much improved side this season and will fancy their chances of halting the progress of Liverpool but there is no getting away from the fact that while they are better this term, their record against the big four this season reads P5 L5 and that is the next stage of their development. I wouldn’t go as far as to call Arsenal flat track bullies because there is progression against better sides, if not the very best, but you do wonder where they hurt Liverpool here without getting hurt themselves. Liverpool are flying at the minute and amazingly Luis Diaz has added even more to their attacking play. Unless Arsenal bring a Bukayo Saka or Gabriel Martinelli through the middle to worry Liverpool with pace in behind I expect this to be a game Liverpool get their own way and as a result I think they close in on City with three more points here.
