Three of the top four are in action on Tuesday evening with the leaders Fulham making the lengthy journey to Wales to take on Swansea City. Fulham could end the evening 12 points clear at the top with a win while the Swans go in search of a fourth win in five outings. Bournemouth have the best chance of picking up points at the top end of the table when they host lowly Peterborough United who have the worst away record in the division while Blackburn Rovers in fourth will be hoping for a slip up from the Cherries to push themselves closer to the automatic promotion places. They host Millwall who haven’t given up on the play-offs.

That race for the top six is intensifying by the week and two key matches take place on Tuesday night. Middlesbrough returned to the top six at the weekend and they head to Sheffield United who are just one spot below them in the table. The winners there will leave the evening in the top six but should they draw the door will be open for Luton Town to claim that spot if they can win away to Coventry, who themselves are still in the top six hunt. The other match sees Barnsley continuing their bid for what should be something of a great escape when they welcome Stoke City to Oakwell.

At the prices I was tempted by Barnsley but I still can’t bring myself to trust them fully so I will go with the one bet over the course of the evening which comes in the match I will be at where Coventry City welcome Luton Town. Coventry flew out of the traps this season, especially at home where they won their opening six matches, but since then they have been victorious in front of their own fans on just three occasions – against Bristol City, Stoke City and Barnsley and none of them are particularly inspiring results.

Luton Town slipped up at Middlesbrough on Saturday in a horrible game which was ruined by the referee but they tend to bounce back from a loss in a positive way and I have mentioned throughout the season that in midweek league matches their record is incredibly strong. They are 9-3-0 under the lights and all season long have put a huge emphasis on matches in hand of which this is one. Injuries are beginning to mount up for the Hatters which isn’t ideal, but we saw against Chelsea last week that they can make a host of changes and still trouble the best. Coventry are a decent side but they are no Chelsea. At the prices I think the visitors are the bet on the Asian lines here.
