Sky Bet Championship 2022-23 – Sunday 14th August Matches Tips and Betting Preview

There are two matches to conclude the Championship weekend on Sunday afternoon as four of the leading lights in the division had their matches held back due to delayed Carabao Cup games in midweek.

There is no TV coverage of these two matches in the UK so unless you are overseas, if you are not watching these matches at the stadiums then you will need to keep up to date via digital form either on social media or the other scoring websites.

Middlesbrough vs Sheffield United (14.00)

The first of the two matches to kick off does so at the Riverside Stadium where Middlesbrough will go in search of their first win of the new campaign when they play host to Sheffield United in what many are obviously dubbing the Chris Wilder derby.

Sheffield United got off the mark last week and will be looking to build on that with another win here but I’m sure both managers will know this is a tough game. These two bosses will know very well about how each other works so there is a sense that they could cancel each other out. The Blades look good defensively but whether they have that standout forward remains to be seen. Wilder has brought some attacking players into his squad in the last few days but whether they are up to speed by now remains to be seen. I fancy this will be a tight affair but the prices all reflect that so I’ll leave this one alone.

Blackburn Rovers vs West Bromwich Albion (15.00)

The second match of the afternoon sees the team who were top of the table heading into the weekend in action as Blackburn Rovers take on a West Bromwich Albion side who have opened up their campaign with a pair of draws.

Blackburn haven’t just started their season well, they have won all three matches if you include their Carabao Cup win in midweek and are yet to concede a goal. West Brom haven’t been anything like as convincing in terms of results but when you look at their play and the amount of chances they have created, Steve Bruce will probably be happy with his charges while urging them to take more of the chances they create. Blackburn might not have conceded yet but they’ll do well to keep West Brom out. Jed Wallace and John Swift have brought so much to them as an attacking force already and I don’t see that changing here. Blackburn have plenty of goal threat themselves though while West Brom look like a work in progress at the back to me having transitioned from a three to a four. I think both teams can find the net in a game they might both think they can win here.
