The UEFA Nations League continues on Friday evening when the third matchday sees another seven matches taking place across the leagues as the international break heads towards its climax over the weekend and into next week.
There is no Home Nations interest on Friday evening but the defending champions France do continue their title defence on a night where there are a few matches which could turn out to be decent watches.
There is only one group on show on Friday evening at the top level and that is A1 where the defending champions France reside. They will go in search of their first win in the tournament when they make the trip to Austria, who have made a better start to their campaign than many would have expected. The other match in the group sees the Euro 2020 semi-finalists Denmark going up against the last World Cup finalists Croatia in another appealing match in this group.
There is only the one match in League B on Friday evening because it is the section where Russia have been chucked out of the competition that is on show. That means Iceland are the team from B2 who are left watching on. The match sees Albania playing how to Israel in a group which in the three matches so far has had three draws and therefore if there is a winner from this contest then that team will top the group.

Leagues C + D
There are four matches in the lower two leagues on Friday night with the action coming in C3 and D1. In C3 Kazakhstan will be looking to keep their 100% record intact when they make the trip to take on Belarus while in the early kick off in that group the pre-competition favourites for this section, Slovakia, will be hoping to pick up three points away to Azerbaijan. In D1 Latvia are in pole position and they can enhance that when they travel to Moldova while Andorra host Liechtenstein in the other game.
Denmark have hit the ground running in this competition but that isn’t a surprise as they have been one of the form teams in international football for the last 12 months and more. Having made it to the semi-finals of the European Championship last summer they cruised through their World Cup qualifying group and now have two wins from two in the UEFA Nations League. I expect that to become three from three when they host Croatia on Friday evening.
Croatia got themselves a point to get off the mark against France on Monday night but that was a French team that had made 11 changes as they tried to prove a point about the schedule and even then they needed a late penalty to get that point. Why Denmark have been so good in recent times is they have built decent depth to make the odd change each game and not weaken the side. They have two wins from two on the road in this competition and now back at home I expect them to triumph once again.
